Why Gregory Bateson Matters

Gregory Bateson was one of the most influential persons for the founders of the NLP.

We recommend that every NLP teacher trainer reads his book  'Steps to an Ecology of Mind' (Chandler, 1972)

Even more relevant today

Ted Gioia (The Honest Broker), just published an article with quite some new insights into the work and philosophy of Gregory Bateson. We have made this article available for download on IANLP website.

Let us share what Ted says about his text:
"Instead of consulting technocrats or coders or venture capitalists, I turned to the best philosophers, humanists, novelists, social thinkers, and other non-STEM visionaries. I hoped to assess today’s technology from a human perspective. And these were my guides and touchstones. At this moment in history, we need this outside perspective. It may be our only hope in the face of today’s growing wave of dysfunctional tech. I promised back in August that I’d have more to say about the wise thinkers on my tech reading list. Today I want to tell you about one of the wisest of them all— Gregory Bateson. That’s not a name you hear often nowadays. But you should."

If you have never read Gregory Bateson, read this!

Beware of scam/phishing e-mails !

Recently, several FMTs have reported receiving scam/phishing e-mails in the name of the IANLP.

Here are some tips on how to distinguish fake e-mails from genuine e-mails:

  • Check the sender's address. Genuine e-mails are from info@ia-nlp.org. The emails in question had sender addresses such as "president.executives.2024@gmail.com" !!
  • There is no 'president' at the IANLP (it's Secretary General).
  • Genuine e-mails from the IANLP usually end with the full sender address.
  • The Secretary General would never ask you to get in touch without telling you what it is about. In our opinion, that is an abuse of power. That is something we definitely do not approve of!
  • The Secretary General would never ask you to help with a payment or ask for a payment that is not based on an invoice.

If in doubt >>> get in touch >>> info@ia-nlp.org
