Fraud Alert by the NLP Leadership Summit

More and more we are seeing online, short, cheap, quick and inferior courses calling themselves NLP Practitioner Certification. They are not. As an initiative of the NLP Leadership Summit, we wish to share the following message:

“Before you register or complete an online or short course claiming to be an NLP Practitioner Certification, please check to make sure the course is recognized by a National and/or International NLP Association.

Globally, NLP Associations set the standards of content and time so you can be assured that your NLP training meets these standards. The quality of your learning and the quality of the future of NLP requires the adherence to standards, assessment requirements and in-person supervised training.”

And to make the situation even more confusing, IANLP is one of the very few standards asking for a minimum duration of 18 days / 130 hours face-to-face on-site training time. As it has been set by the initiator group of NLP trainers in the 1980-ies and incorporated into the guidelines of the IANLP upon foundation in 1983.

Proud to be IANLP!

So folks, if you have graduated under IANLP standards, post 'IANLP' to your site, print 'IANLP' on your business cards. Be proud to have graduated under one of the world's most successful yet rigorous and convincing NLP set of guidelines.

Steve Andreas died

One of the most important pioneers and developers of NLP has died: The NLP community worldwide mourns the death of Steve Andreas. He died on September 7, 2018 at the age of 82.

Steve founded one of the most important NLP training institutes in the USA ("NLP Comprehensive") and published several standard works as a publisher.

With sadness, great gratitude and appreciation we read the words of his family in 'Steve Andreas‘ NLP Blog'

Code of Ethics amended

Fellow Member Trainer IANLP represent their services in a true and accurate way.

The Code of Ethics of the IANLP has always asked for highest ethical conduct of its Fellow Member Trainers.

Recently it has been brought to our attention that there are some people (no IANLP members), who claim they will heal physical illness by using NLP. To promise healing is no ethical behaviour. Any reputable professional and all IANLP members will sustain from such behaviour.

To make this explicit we have added a line to our Code of Ethics, making a clear distinction, that this is no good conduct. It reads:

"Members will [also] abstain from making any promises in treating and/or healing physical or mental conditions."

Treatment of Paediatric CFS

Scientific study shows NLP to be effective in treatment of children with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) / Myalgic Encephalitis (ME). Read more

Scientific community biased towards NLP?

Associate Professor Suzanne Henwood explains on facebook about progress so far with publishing her height phobia research in New Zealand: "We ended up having to take NLP out of title because it was getting rejected from medical journals with it in. One review even gave us feed back as because it's NLP it can't work ... no feedback on methodology or results!! We were horrified at our experience of bias in review process. We write about it in Rapport Magazine to try to raise awareness (Article).

New Zealand medical research on the NLP Phobia process.

The process was done as a single 15 minute session able to be delivered by doctors (rather than a full NLP session), and randomly compared to a single 15 minute session of a guided meditation, with the clients not knowing whether their process was the "real" one or not. This is an attempt to distinguish the NLP process from simple placebo response. Half of clients (52) got the NLP process, and half (46) got the placebo. On the Heights Interpretation Questionnaire the percentage of clients reporting 8 weeks later that their fear of heights is "very much improved" was 34.6% in the NLP group and 15.2% in the control group. ‘Powered by NLP’ - NLP Leadership Summit 2016

This free eBook was produced and edited by Joe Cheal on behalf of the NLP Leadership Summit that met in Alicante in January. "Our intention in producing this book was to share the discussions and ideas prompted by our meeting." - “The 38 NLP leaders who gathered in Alicante (Spain) in January 2016 made a decision to record the experience and send it out world-wide. Joe Cheal headed up the project, gathering in all of the documents, editing them, and putting them into a book form. This fits very well for Joe as he has written two NLP books and has edited Acuity magazine (an NLP magazine) for six or more years."

Proud to be IANLP

By the way, since becoming an FMT (and more recently a Coach IANLP), I haven't taken the time to share my gratitude towards the IANLP with you. Let's put it in a few words. In my professional life, I have signed a few codes of ethics, most of them being simply boring, and some of them I didn't feel aligned with but had to comply with anyway. The IANLP code of ethics really stands out as an exception. It's the only one I know that starts with a vision regarding human rights, peace and social progress on a global basis. Wow! I feel aligned and proud of being a member of an organization that starts from that place.

NLP with children: What works?

Dear Friends

Fabiola Escobar is asking this:
“We writting you because we are searching information about the use of NLP in children, and what technics are most successful for them, or some book about that, because we can not find something useful at the moment. I will looking forward for your answer.”

Fabiola Escobar is a Fellow Member Trainer from Chile. So we guess anything either in spanish or in english would be most appreciated.

Is there NLP in Cuba?

Intaka – the „Integrative Academy for Education and Coaching“, Regensburg, Germany, has recently established a hotel and retreat center in a remote area in Cuba.

Due to the economic realities in Cuba, training and education in NLP and Coaching for Cuban nationals is only possible when third parties sponsor the fees for education, course materials, accomodation and travel. Initially, INTAKA has started the project and is now seeking support from individuals and/or institutions for expanded cost coverage. More Info

Fraud Alert !

Not everyone who claims to be associated with the IANLP International Association for Neuro-Linguistic Programming is legitimately connected.

With the success and extensiveness of the Fellow Member Trainers IANLP as well as the brand name 'IANLP' and its trademark around the planet, numerous people without a solid ethical foundation are falsely claiming to be associated with the IANLP.

Test for Authenticity: How do you find out who’s for real and who is a fraud? Go to and look at the Member’s List. If a person is not listed there, they are not licensed and recognized by the IANLP, International Association for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. A special warning: The Domain has been monopolised by a person who is promoting low level trainings misusing the good brand name of the IANLP.

By signing the Code of Ethics all Fellow Member Trainers IANLP have consented to only offer nlp trainings under the name of 'practitioner', 'master' and 'trainer' that do comply with the guidelines and standards of the IANLP. Any nlp training which does not comply with these standards has to be marketed under a distinctively different brand name. It was always understood that this policy applies for any training activity whatsoever. Whether the training is offered by the FMT and/or he/she is participating as a trainer in a nlp training programm that is being offered by third parties. The wording of the Code of Ethics has been adjusted to clarify.

Periodical reporting on websites

During the last months of 2014 we have conducted our periodical visits of websites of our esteemed Fellow Member Trainers IANLP.

In next bulletin we will publish a detailed report on the findings. Overall we have found that members websites are claiming accurate curricula and clear statements on duration of trainings. Some members were asked to please put a link to onto their website. Adding one or even several links to will help internet search machine to recognize IANLP as an important platform.

Immediate membership cancellation

During our periodical reporting of websites we found one members website offering nlp practitioner training at a duration of 12 days only. When asked for clarification this member claimed that it was a misunderstanding and the actual training lasted well over 18 days/130 hrs.

Regardless of the true numbers of days/hours the training lasted, to advertise at less days/hours is considered a heavy misconduct and violation of code of ethics and breach of collegiality amongst the members. Nonetheless the office of the IANLP asked to submit a list of former students. The idea was to be able to get in touch with students and checking on true duration of trainings. Since the Fellow Member Trainer refused to submit the requested data, Secretary General decided to cancel the membership with immediate effect.

Discussion: Titles

When visiting the websites of our esteemed FMT as part of the annual review, we noticed that there are quite a few versions of 'nlp practitioner' in use. Examples include the following:

  • NLP-Business Practitioner
  • nlp-Resonanz®-Practitioner
  • nlp & coaching practitioner

This brings up the questions on how the IANLP should handle this issue?

The proper title so far has been 'NLP Practitioner IANLP' and no further addition whatsoever. Within this standard, titles such as 'NLP Practitioner IANLP (Business)' would also be ok. But NLP Business Practitioner IANLP? Where are the limits?

The issue at stake is whether introducing additional titles confuses the public and diminishes the role of the IANLP in that interested seminar participants can no longer be certain whether a given training indeed is equivalent to the IANLP training standards and certificate titles. However, the IANLP definitely strives to support our FMT in their marketing efforts and do not wish to unnecessarily impose limits.

We will open a thread on this issue in the member forum.

We value input by our members on how to handle this issue, as this will help us to decide on a policy that both promotes our FTM in their marketing efforts and the IANLP as a standards setting body.

Do IANLP approved certificates and seals come with an expiration date?

One of our esteemed members inquired recently whether IANLP approved certificates and seals come with an expiration date. Apparently, other professional associations link the validity of the certificates they issue to an annual membership fee. In contrast IANLP approved certificates and seals document the achievement of a level of mastery at the time of completion. This should not come with an expiration date.

In fact, we believe that the two main reasons for expiration dates on nlp certificates and requiring annual membership fees to extend the validity of such certificates are the following:

  • quality assurance, and
  • financial considerations

Both of these issues have to be dealt with by each Fellow Member Trainer IANLP outside the framework of the IANLP though.

Our members are thus in the position to use this policy to assure potential trainees that their certificates will come with a lifetime validity and with no additional fees required – unlike those of other organizations.

Hence, while individual IANLP members are obviously free to create and introduce their own „membership“ networks for their institutes, as far as the IANLP is concerned, ianlp certificates issued once will not expire and will keep their validity indefinitely.

Introducing new IANLP member forum

The continual growth and the increasing recognition that the IANLP has enjoyed in the past few years is only partially the result of our high standards for training and the high ethical standards that we advocate in the course of professional training.

Most fellow members trainers deliberately choose to join the IANLP as it reflects their deep personal and professional commitment to nlp. Hence, the success of the IANLP is also due to a membership that consists of a uniquely motivated and highly accomplished body of individuals.

This high level of motivation has led some members to seek for opportunities to interaction with other fellow member trainers. Therefore, the IANLP is now sponsoring an internet forum that is exclusively open to IANLP members. The forum is hosted at the following website:

Some of the topics may include the following:

  • Collaborate with other members on new teaching projects
  • Share or exchange curricula with other fellow member trainers
  • Discuss the latest NLP techniques and applications
  • Review and recommend literature
  • Organize virtual or live meetings
  • Discuss marketing and other aspects of running your business
  • Get support from experienced members in all aspects of nlp training
  • Have your questions answered by fellow member trainers or IANLP staff

Members interested in participating can register by visiting Members will be required to register with their full name that we have on file. This will allow us to verify eligibility by checking all applications against our database. The registration process will usually be completed within one to two days.

While the IANLP sponsors the forum and members of the IANLP administration may also participate in the forum, this forum is conceived primarily as a room for IANLP fellow member trainers to enjoy. Hence, if any fellow member trainer wishes to increase their participation and would like to serve as forum moderator that manages the day-to-day affairs of the forum as it applies to user contributions and interactions, please contact us.

Members can always contact the forum admin at for any questions they may have. Some glitches are likely to occur initially and we request your patience while we iron out any initial problems as we embark on this journey.

We are looking forward to a lively participation in the new forum!

Marvin Sadovsky USA (FMT IANLP) created an APP to support rapport skills

I launched an APP for Android Phones. The APP is a 20 min special program which will provide you with the special skills that create rapport and help build relationships. I have pulled the most significant distinctions from a full day program which past attendees have said really helped them the most over the years. This information is a life awareness experience and will help in personal and business engagements.

If you have a desire to become aware of how the subconscious accepts your interaction and would like to show deep respect which produces a good feeling from anyone you communicate with than this may be a resource for you. Let me know your experience with the APP. So far I have been getting thankful reviews.

It does have a slight fee, $9.97. Just go to the Android APP MKT and type in “Relationship Secrets”. Enjoy.
